A gruelling adventure race

10/10/2008 10:58:00 AM
MORE than 1400 athletes are expected to compete in one of the world's biggest adventure races when they compete in the Anaconda Adventure Race on Geographe Bay in Dunsborough on November 2.

The 52km race will start at 7:30am at Old Dunsborough Boat Ramp and include ocean swimming (1.8km), ocean kayaking (12.5km), coastal and trail running (14.2km), mountain biking (22km) and a final run (1.8km).

The race is accessible to beginners, with a ‘relay teams’ category where participants can join up with friends and colleagues to do just one leg each.

There will be fierce competition at this year’s event with participants including world adventure racing champion Richard Ussher (NZ) who won last year’s race, current leader of the Anaconda Adventure Race National Series Jarad Kohlar, 2007 Series winner Ben Allen, WA triathlete of the year Sean O'Neil and former Surf Ironman Guy Andrews.

Participants can find more information and register to the races by visiting www.anacondaadventurerace.com.
