O'Brien wins Fremantle award

10/10/2008 10:59:00 AM
PEEL Thunder defender Brock O’Brien won the WA Football League Recognition award at Fremantle Football Club’s presentation night held at the Burswood last Saturday.

An award recognises players who have played in the WAFL or AFL fixtures with high distinction while displaying an attitude that is professional and represents the club in an outstanding manner.

O’Brien won the honour after catching the eye of the Docker’s coaching staff after an impressive game in round 16 against Melbourne.

The dashing defender collected nine possessions and kicked a goal before he was forced off the ground through injury.

After making his AFL debut in the final round in 2007, the 20-year-old has added a further two senior games to his tally this year.

He also polled strongly in the Peel Thunder Dudley Tuckey medal, finishing inside the top 10 despite missing games through injury and AFL duties.

O’Brien was drafted to Fremantle in 2006 at pick number 52.
